A movimenta\u00e7\u00e3o de material \u00e9, via de regra, feita por ve\u00edculos que variam de caminh\u00f5es convencionais rodovi\u00e1rios a caminh\u00f5es basculantes fora da estrada (OTR).<\/p>\n<p>No caso da minera\u00e7\u00e3o a c\u00e9u aberto, a economia de escala gerou um aumento na carga \u00fatil dos caminh\u00f5es de transporte ao longo dos anos, como mostrado na Figura 1. Com o aumento do tamanho dos equipamentos, o desempenho da estrada pode ser comprometido, resultando em custos totais excessivos para o usu\u00e1rio, muitas vezes percebido diretamente como um aumento no custo por tonelada transportada, mas tamb\u00e9m indiretamente como taxas reduzidas de produ\u00e7\u00e3o, vida \u00fatil do ve\u00edculo e dos seus componentes.
